Students and faculty at the Ontario College of Art & Design have come together to create a series of events that focus attention on the capacities of art and design to address HIV/AIDS. Our program is unique in its emphasis on children and children’s voices - giving audience to the children who are devastated by HIV/AIDS and encouraging students to creatively respond to the issues of our time. We have partnered with local and international groups to call attention to issues facing children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. Please see our schedule below for details about our events, which include an Art Exhibition, Silent Poster Auction, Panel Discussion, Film Screenings and Opening Reception.
OCAD will be a destination point for those interested in HIV/AIDS activism and children, with a focus on the role of art and design in representing and raising critical awareness about the conditions affecting children in the context of the global pandemic. This event will create opportunities for participants to grapple with the questions raised by the pandemic about the politics of representing those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
